To drive interest and footfall into the Meadows shopping centre in Chelmsford during a significant period of redevelopment.
TTo mark the centenary of WW1 we recommended to connect with shopping centres audience and deliver a digital experience around the Great War anniversary.
An augmented heritage app experience telling the story of Chelmsford and its people, with location based content throughout the shopping centre triggered using the shopping centre app.
We researched the local museum’s collection and local newspaper archives to develop the WW1 content for the experience. Using augmented reality object recognition, 14 trigger points were created throughout the shopping centre.
The involvement of Chelmsford and its residents in WW1 is told through each of interact trigger points include audio, video and imagery. In addition to the WW1 experience the app includes listings for all of the businesses in the shopping centre.
Each business can upload their latest offer vouchers which are redeemable through the app. The events and news for the shopping centre is managed through the cloud based CMS.
